Edinburgh, Pentland Hills Spring Foraging Course

near Penicuik

The course will start at The Flotterstone Inn at 12pm with a short introduction on how to forage safely and sustainably, plus a brief of the general countryside codes where they relate to foragers.

We will then set off for a gentle walk identifying the different plants, flowers and mushrooms that we find. There will be breaks along the way for some homemade refreshments such as our lovely hogweed and wild garlic soup.

After a 2-3 hour walk we’ll head back to the pub for a wild food lunch based on what we have found. This will include some tasty treats made from our recent finds, a wild salad that we will pick on the day and possibly even some wild garlic pesto.

After the walk we will email all of you details of all the plants we find to help you remember what you have learnt.

Please bear in mind this is a walk in the Pentland Hills and our usual route does include a reasonably steep hill.
