This rocky promontory is fortified by two rock cut ditches, a massive rampart and an extraordinary stone 'blockhouse'. The blockhouse is with its central passage, roofed with slabs, is remarkably well preserved.
An extraordinarily important site spanning 3000 years, including Bronze Age houses, an Iron Age broch, Viking long houses, and a 16th century Laird's house.
