Manderston is a house on which no expense was spared as is evidenced by the craftsmanship and materials used. Even the stables and dairy had marble used in their construction. The house has the only silver staircase in the world, beautiful staterooms, luxurious bedrooms and sophisticated domestic arrangements "below stairs".
The gardens are no less superb with four terraces planted in the Edwardian style. In summer they are full of roses, hostas and bedding plants. On the opposite bank of the lake from the house is a woodland garden with many rare specimens of rhododendrons and azaleas. Best in late May and June.
Teas are served for visitors on Open Days and there is a shop selling souvenirs and home-made goods.
