The family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, Glamis has been a royal residence since 1372. The Castle, a 5-story "L"shaped tower block was originally a royal hunting lodge and is built of pink sandstone.
Remodelled in the 17th century visitors can see the Great Hall, with its magnificent plasterwork ceiling, the beautiful family chapel, the 18th century billiard room, housing what is left of the Castle's extensive library, the Dining room with family portraits and the Royal apartments.
